My positive views towards the curriculum and developing international connections of this institution were tempered by the low standard of development of information resources.
Computer classrooms exist. A library exists. The library, however, had no access to online databases nor did it have an online catalog or any periodical index covering Vietnamese or Southeast Asian journals. The book collection was more developed an contained quite a few fairly recent foreign-language titles. An economics instructor stated that in order to have access to journal articles in his field, he frequently requested articles via email to colleagues and students living abroad, Internet connections were slow. I don't doubt that this situation will improve during the next 5 years.

Arrival in Ho Chi Minh City

We arrived late last evening. We have no activities planned until the afternoon. I have had a great continental breakfast at the Rex Hotel and will have most of the day to acclimate myself.
The Internet conncection is fast, and there is a USB port so maybe we can post some photographs later.
